Blackmagic Videohub 80x80 12G
The Blackmagic Videohub 12G offers a streamlined solution for managing SDI connections, reducing cable clutter by allowing users to electronically establish connections between their SDI equipment. This eliminates the need for complex system diagrams in the studio, enabling any video input to be linked to any video output, or a single input to multiple outputs. This grants monitors the capability to display any source within the studio, offering utmost flexibility to adapt to changes or emergencies. It facilitates the use of multiple HyperDeck recorders for redundant mastering and allows for video routing to multiple streaming processors across various broadcast platforms. Moreover, the Blackmagic Videohub 12G is excellent for expanding inputs on an ATEM switcher.
This high-capacity 80x80 model of the router supports zero-latency 12G-SDI video and accommodates a mix of SD, HD, and Ultra HD formats concurrently. It features a control panel, re-clocking, and external Ethernet control.
The integrated front control panel permits users to easily route video, making it an ideal solution for live production racks with limited space for additional hardware panels. The panel closely resembles a Videohub Master Control Pro, featuring a spin knob for navigation, direct entry buttons for swift adjustments, and an LCD for displaying labels. As it's integrated into the router, users can also view live video on the LCD. The LCD also provides menus for adjusting router settings.
All models of the Blackmagic Videohub 12G are equipped with advanced 12G-SDI connections that support a wide range of SD, HD, and Ultra HD video formats up to 2160p60. They can connect seamlessly with SD, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI equipment. Additionally, the Blackmagic Videohub 12G allows routing of different video standards simultaneously on the same router. For instance, on the 80x80 model, users can route up to 80 distinct video signals to 80 outputs concurrently. The 12G-SDI technology enables high frame rate Ultra HD transmission through a single BNC connection, compatible with regular HD equipment. This ensures compatibility with both current and future equipment setups.
The Videohub includes built-in SDI re-clocking on each 12G-SDI input, essential for maintaining optimal video quality. This feature regenerates the video signal, crucial for longer video cable runs where signal degradation can occur. While premium "digital" cables can offer some improvement, they can't entirely eliminate signal integrity loss over extended distances. With SDI re-clocking, all SDI devices in the studio receive a regenerated signal with enhanced jitter performance. This allows for longer cable lengths without video dropouts.
Remote control functionality is available for all Blackmagic Videohub routers, particularly crucial in large broadcast studios where connected equipment may be distributed across different areas of the facility. There are two types of hardware panels available. The Videohub Master Control Pro mirrors the front panel with a spin knob, LCD, and shortcut buttons. Meanwhile, the Videohub Smart Control Pro features an array of buttons, typically programmed so each button corresponds to a router input, allowing for instant router output changes. This setup works most effectively when a smart panel is installed below each video monitor.
